Experience our culture for yourself.

With Easter and summer work placements, there are lots of opportunities for you to discover what it’s like to work at Addleshaw Goddard.

We offer week-long Easter work placements in Edinburgh and London, and two-week summer work placements in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Manchester.

While you are with us you will get to know the everyday life of an Addleshaw Goddard trainee. You will join a department, be supervised by an experienced solicitor and have a trainee buddy help you throughout your placement.

Your time with us is a chance to get to know our people and our culture while working in our business. Our placement schemes were nominated for five awards in the AllAboutLaw 2019 awards and we were named runners up in the award for ‘Best Vacation Scheme – National Firm’ and ‘Best Vacation Scheme for Growing Confidence’.

At the end of the placement schemes we offer training contracts to successful students.

A world of opportunity.

We offer a two-week summer work placement scheme for students looking to train and qualify in Hong Kong.

It is similar to the UK scheme, and we recruit for our Hong Kong training contracts exclusively from our work placement scheme. We require applicants to have the relevant right to work. We cannot sponsor students to work in Hong Kong.

Tailored to you.

Your two-year training contract will cover four six-month seats in our Corporate & Commercial, Litigation, Finance & Projects and Real Estate divisions. We offer a wide range of seats within these divisions across our offices.

You’ll receive training that’s tailored to your needs and interests while gaining a first-hand insight into life at one of the UK’s most respected law firms. You will be supported by some of our brightest minds and challenged with meaningful work, helping you develop the connections and skills you need to become a trusted lawyer.

Before you start your training contract we will invite you to spend a few days with your future colleagues. We typically host the on-boarding trip in a country hotel and your time away will be spent introducing you to peers and equipping you for success at Addleshaw Goddard.

Relationships are hugely important to us, and we create opportunities for you to get to know trainees from across our offices at our annual trainee conference. The event is organised by trainees and is focused on areas that are important and relevant to you.

While you are training, there are lots of ways you can get involved in the life of the firm. From contributing to a committee or joining a sports team, your voice and your opinion matter.

We offer international secondments to our trainees. They are able to spend six months in either our Hong Kong, Dubai, Oman or  Doha offices. International secondments are a great opportunity to better understand our work, build relationships with colleagues in another office and experience life in another city.

We also offer a number of client secondments so trainees can learn about the FTSE 100 companies and household names we work with. We have recently organised secondments in London, Leeds and Edinburgh and we are always looking at new opportunities to grow our secondment network.

Secondments are great opportunities for trainees to learn and they are invaluable experiences for their career development.
