ENGLAND & SCOTLAND

Direct Training Contract Applications

Applications for our 2024 training contracts and our Aberdeen training contracts starting in 2022 and 2023 are now closed.
Applications for our 2025 training contracts (Leeds, London, Manchester and Scotland) will open in April 2023.

 

Placement Scheme Applications

Applications for our 2023 Placement schemes will be opening on 10 October 2022 and closing on 5 January 2023.
We only accept one application per intake year. For example if you apply for the 2023 Placement Scheme/2025 Training Contract you are not able to apply for our 2025 Training Contract.

 

First Year Open Day Applications

Applications for our 2023 Open Days will be opening in the autumn.

Applications for our 2023 and 2024 training contracts are now open.
For the 2023 training contract you must:
  • have completed or be in the process of completing your FE1 exams; and
  • be ready to join us for a pre-seat in Spring 2023 before starting the Professional Practice Course (PPC) in September 2023

I want to take a gap year; will this be seen as a disadvantage in my application to Addleshaw Goddard?

Taking a gap year would not be seen as a disadvantage in your application to Addleshaw Goddard.

I want to take a gap year, when should I be applying?

You should be applying for a training contract two years prior to when you will be ready to commence a training contract.

How many times can I apply?

We accept one application per intake year. You can either apply for our 2023 Placement Scheme/2025 Training Contract or 2025 Direct Training Contract. You can also only apply for one location so please ensure you have decided where you would like to be based before applying.

I would like to come and work for Addleshaw Goddard for my gap year, can I?

Occasionally we employ graduates on one year contracts to fill vacancies for various positions including secretary, paralegal, receptionist etc. All current vacancies are advertised on our website. All speculative applications should be made online as well.

Do you offer paralegal vacancies?

We do employ paralegals for our Transaction Services Team. Vacancies are advertised on our website.

How do I apply for an Easter/Summer placement scheme?

My degree is not from an English institution, what should I do?

Please refer to the Solicitors Regulation Authority where you will be able to find out more information about what steps you are required to take in order to qualify as an English solicitor.

When do I need to apply for an Easter/Summer placement scheme?

Between 10 October and 5 January.

When do I need to apply for a Training Contract?

Between 1 April and 31 July.

What if I have some extra information I would like adding to my application once I have submitted it - for example exam results or work experience?

Once you have submitted your form we will accept updated additions only to work experience or academic results as long as we receive them before the deadlines. These must be emailed to earlycareers@addleshawgoddard.com. If you wish to amend your personal or contact details, these must be emailed to earlycareers@addleshawgoddard.com.

Must I complete an Addleshaw Goddard application form?

Yes, we require all applicants to complete our application form online. We will not accept CVs, speculative enquiries or other standard application forms.

I don't have a 2.1 at University, can I still apply?

We will not automatically discount an application if this grade has not been gained. There is space on the application form to enter any details you may feel to be relevant, such as mitigating circumstances. Also, for current BPP students that don’t meet this requirement, we run the Legal Access Scheme – please contact your careers service for further information. Applicants should be aware that the competition for placement schemes and Training Contracts is fierce, and you will be competing against applicants who have achieved the requirement. Therefore, you should ensure that the rest of your application form provides us with the best reflection of yourself and your abilities.

Do you offer financial assistance?

Yes, if offered a training contract we will sponsor your SQE/Diploma and provide you with a maintenance grant. We don’t however pay fees retrospectively.

I have a disability and require the application form in an alternative format, can you provide this?

Yes, we will provide the application form in alternative formats. Please contact us at earlycareers@addleshawgoddard.com with details of the alternative format required.

What should I do if I require reasonable adjustments for the recruitment process because of my disability?

Addleshaw Goddard will work with you to ensure any reasonable adjustment requirements are implemented correctly. We will liaise with you to establish the most suitable adjustments required for the recruitment process and will ensure the adjustments are implemented as necessary. If successful will I do the SQE or LPC?

From 2024, our trainee cohort will be working towards qualification through the SQE route, more information will be available to successful applicants.
